Fall Online Classes
September 14 - January 30

Now Launching After-School
Coding Classes for Kids

Now Kids Can Explore the Unknown, Even From Home

Blast off this fall with The Coding Space Virtual Classes. Working one-on-one or in small groups, your child’s coding journey can now continue anywhere. Our unique fall 2020 group classes program balances screen time with hands-on activities and opportunities to create and explore, even in your own house. Our program provides social interaction so that students can make new friends near and far, all while experiencing our signature 4:1 student to teacher ratio ensuring personalized attention when they need it. We’re on a mission to help kids develop creative thinking skills, confidence, and self-expression through learning to code.

Your child will...

  • Build grit, a growth mindset, and computational thinking through coding.
  • Learn to code in Scratch or JavaScript.
  • Balance screen time with hands-on activities and opportunities to create and explore, even in their own living rooms.
  • Discover and define their personal passions through STEM challenges and more.
  • Make new friends near and far.
  • Be challenged at their individual level.

Class Options

Our dedicated teachers are able to instruct students with a range of abilities: from complete beginners to students already building applications in JavaScript and Python. We have also launched half semester plans to fit your flexible schedule this Fall.

Class Schedule

First: Class Kick-Off

Next: Project-Based Coding

Then: Hands-On Activity

Last: Challenge & Reflection

Equipment: Macs and PCs are strongly preferred for our online program. If you need to use a Chromebook, please let us know ahead of time as it may require extra logistical coordination on our end. Tablets, smartphones, and iPads will not work.

✓

Project-Based Coding

All students learn to code using the Socratic Method, allowing them to develop a newfound problem-solving stamina. Beginners code in Scratch, a block based programming language created by MIT. Advanced students code in JavaScript or other text-based programming languages. Students receive personalized attention and curriculum customization through experienced teachers and a 4:1 camper-to-counselor ratio. Learn more about our educational philosophy.

✓

Hands-On Activities

Students take a break from their screens and discover the opportunities to create and explore that exist all around them, even in their own living rooms. Centered in the world of STEAM, activities will be derived from the fields of engineering, language arts, design, and more.

✓

Weekly Challenges & Reflection

Students will be challenged each week to learn new programming techniques and stretch their minds in new ways. Each class ends with a reflection on the day's work, lessons learned, and future goals.

Scholarship Program

We are committed to providing access to our high quality coding programs for a diverse student population. Our scholarship and pro-bono partnership programs provide such opportunities for students from under resourced communities. Combined, our pro-bono services account for 25% of the students we serve.
