- Be challenged at their individual level.
- Build grit, a growth mindset, and computational thinking skills.
- Balance screen time with hands-on activities.
- Discover and define their personal passions.
- Make friends and explore opportunities for teamwork.
Not Your Typical Coding Class
At The Coding Space, we specialize in providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for kids to have fun, be challenged, and discover their passions. Our teachers never lecture; instead, they ask targeted questions using the Socratic Method to get students thinking and problem solving on their own. By focusing on the development of computational thinking skills, intellectual confidence, self-expression, and independence, our students learn to code while growing as thinkers, learners, and leaders.
What to Expect in a TCS Class
Class Kickoff & Challenges
Each week, students are challenged to learn new programming techniques and stretch their minds in fresh, interesting ways. We'll kick off each class with a warm welcome and ideas and inspiration for new challenges to tackle.
We challenge our students to create projects as unique as they are. Students receive individualized attention and curriculum customization through experienced teachers and a 4:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Using the Socratic method, our teachers ask questions aimed at helping students discover their own solutions to problems. Whether your child is new to coding or already building their own websites and projects, students progress through our curriculum at the pace that’s right for them.
Time to stretch, tinker, and play. Students take a break from their screens and discover the opportunities to create and explore that exist all around them, even in their own living rooms. Centered in the world of STEM, these activities range from short story writing and yoga to virtual escape rooms, cryptography, and much more. These opportunities support cognitive, emotional, and social development, allowing students to grow in fun new ways.
Each class ends with a reflection on the day's work, lessons learned, and future goals.
Macs and PCs are strongly preferred for our online program. If you need to use a Chromebook, please let us know ahead of time as it may require extra logistical coordination on our end. Please note: tablets, smartphones, and iPads will not work.

Our Flexible Refund Policy
We are able to provide a full refund for cancelled registrations up to one week before the start of the term. After this point, we are no longer able to provide refunds. However, we can accommodate rescheduling. Class cancellations must be made 24 hrs in advance of the scheduled class to be eligible for rescheduling. We want to make sure our teachers have time to prepare, and know what to expect class to class, week to week. It makes for a better learning experience for our awesome students! Make-ups are subject to availability and require 3 days notice (i.e. for a Monday make-up, the request must be made by 4 pm on Friday). In addition, make-ups that are scheduled aren’t eligible for rescheduling a second time. Make-ups can't be rolled over to a future term.

We believe that everyone has a right to equitable education in a safe and inclusive learning environment and are committed to increasing access to our high quality coding programs. Our scholarship program accounts for 25 percent of the students we teach. Our long-term goal as we work towards educational equity is to reach 50 percent of our students through at-cost and pro-bono services.
What Families Are Saying About The Coding Space
“The Coding Space has opened up a whole new world for our daughter, which was especially needed during this time when she couldn’t see friends in person. Her Coding Space classes are the highlight of her week and it’s so incredible to watch her progress.”
"The Coding Space is fun to me because they let me make up my own ideas, have fun doing the activities, and then share! I like the feedback that others share with me too! It's a place with a message of fun to me."
—Ellery, age 8
“I was impressed by how much one-on-one feedback James received from his teachers. I really liked the fact that the teachers didn't tell him what to do, but rather encouraged him to problem solve on his own.”
